What Does Costa SA-LA Mean?

What Does Costa SA-LA Mean?

There is more in the name than you might think.

Costa came from a love for the coast.

The water. The air. The salt left on your skin. That feeling of being near the sea that somehow makes life feel a little lighter.

But SA-LA has always carried the deeper meaning.

Yes, the coast is salty. That connection was natural.

But when the name Costa SA-LA was created, the salt we were thinking about wasn’t only the salt in the ocean.

It was this:

“You are the salt of the earth.”
Matthew 5:13

Those are the words of Jesus.

And that matters to the story of our name.

Jesus wasn’t talking about the sea. He was talking about who we are called to be in the world.

Salt has purpose. It preserves. It brings flavor. Even a small amount can affect everything around it.

That is what sat in our hearts when SA-LA became part of the name.

The coast may be what you see first in Costa SA-LA. It’s in our textures, our colors, our products and the places that inspire us.

But underneath all of that is something we never wanted to lose.

A reminder that what we bring into the world should have meaning beyond ourselves.

That beauty can have purpose.

That influence doesn’t have to be loud to be felt.

And that ultimately, the light we have was never ours to begin with.

It comes from Him.

So yes, Costa is our love for the coast.

But SA-LA is our reminder of who Jesus called us to be when He said:

You are the salt of the earth.

That’s the heart behind the name.

Costa SA-LA.
